Lottman Breaking Heads are used with conventional Marshall Stability Load Frames to determine the Indirect Tensile (IDT) strength and Lottman values of asphalt mixtures, as well as perform the Indirect Tensile Cracking Test (IDEAL-CT). The fixtures can also be used to determine the Tensile Strength Ratio (TSR) by comparing the stress levels of conditioned and unconditioned specimens.

MS-35 accommodates 4in (102mm) and 100mm specimens.

MS-36 accommodates 6in (152mm) specimens.

MS-38 accommodates 150mm specimens

Each fixture consists of a base with upright guide rods and a top assembly with matching guide sleeves. The upper and lower stainless steel loading strips feature concave contact surfaces for proper specimen loading.
