Gilson Rotary Sifters perform accurate particle size testing on construction aggregates and other granular materials in the 1in to No. 635 (25mm to 20µm) size range. Many state agencies prefer the rotary sifter for aggregate gradations. Gilson models offer an improved design and upgraded materials over traditional rotary sifters. These quiet, high-quality models are safer to operate and have a longer service life.
No clamping is required. Assembled sieve stacks are simply placed inside, and the cabinet is tilted back to the testing position using the ergonomic side knob. The test sieves are continuously rotated by two rubber-covered stainless-steel drive rollers and particle separation is aided by mechanical hammers tapping against each sieve.
Gilson Rotary Sifters convert in seconds to accept 8in, 12in, 200mm or 300mm ASTM or ISO test sieves in stacks up to 26in (660mm) high. Sieve stack capacity, including pan, ranges from six 12in diameter full-height sieves to twenty 8in diameter half-height sieves.
Test sieves and drive mechanisms are enclosed by the cabinet for safe operation. Bearing and rod safety covers eliminate exposed moving parts below the cabinet for greater compliance with OSHA regulations. Airborne respirable nuisance dust is also contained, protecting personnel, and allowing easy cleanup. A door interlock switch stops the sifter if the door is opened.
The digital countdown timer/controller with large, bright 0.5in (126mm) LED display precisely controls operation up to 99 minutes ± 1 second. A pause function allows the test cycle to be suspended and resumed with no loss of test time. The door safety switch stops the sifter and resets the timer if the door is opened during operation. A five-second audible alarm sounds at completion.
The rugged cabinet is constructed of dense, impact-resistant painted MDF board, CNC machined for tightly fitted seams. The full-width door is attached with heavy-duty commercial grade hinges and allows complete access to the interior for easy handling of the sieve stack. The cabinet is mounted on a sturdy, powder-coated stand constructed of heavy ASTM A 513 steel tubing. A dependable 1/4hp continuous-duty motor drives the system. Tapping hammer assemblies are 6061 aluminum alloy with Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene heads.
