Gilso-Matic® Screening Assemblies test large-volume samples for effective quality control of coarse aggregate. Production requires testing on large volume samples. Operating principles are similar to our proven Testing Screen and Test-Master® laboratory models. Gilso-Matic® Screening Assemblies have a topsize capacity of 4in (102mm) and accept six-wire cloth units. The minimum recommended material size is No. 8 (2.36mm).
The holding capacity of each collection chute is about 1.5ft³ (0.04m³) for a total capacity of 10.5ft³ (0.3m³) from the six-screen decks and the fines collection pan. Each chute has an individually powered gate for the controlled release of accumulated material. Replaceable ASTM E11 stainless steel wire cloth units are 24in (610mm) square and mounted in metal frames for clamping in screen decks. Six GXA-99 or GXA-100 wire cloth units are required and must be ordered separately. A Dust Pan for fines collection is included.
The mechanism of the screening assembly is internally counter-balanced for smooth operation and to minimize the transfer of vibration. Capacities are considerably greater and automated material handling features have been added. These are powerful, reliable units designed for integration into an automated, total quality control system.
For the greatest accuracy, these large samples are screened in smaller batches, and weights are added together for total fractions. After each batch is screened, air-actuated cylinders tilt the screen decks and fines collection pan to discharge fractions into individual collection chutes. Screen decks and pans remain mounted in the machine during testing and discharge operations, but can be unbolted easily for cleaning and maintenance. At the completion of the batch-testing cycles, the contents of each chute can be discharged directly to a platform scale for a cumulative analysis. Electronic scales, purchased separately, can be used for weight determinations and connected to a PC to allow automated data collection. Individual-sized fractions can also be collected individually in pans and dollies and moved away for further processing.
Assemblies are built with a 3hp electric motor that requires a 230 or 460V 3-phase electrical supply, air-actuated cylinders that must have a minimum 80psi air supply, collection chutes, a control box, and mounting rails.

GX-4A1 Models come with an 18ft³ (0.5m³) Hopper/Feeder assembly to dispense material to the Gilso-Matic® in successive cycles of feeding, screening, and discharge. Units equipped with the Hopper can perform a single test cycle on a sample up to 10.5ft³ (0.3m³) (152mm), in batch sizes from 1—3ft³ (0.03—0.08m³).
