MC-250 Series Concrete Compression Machines test the compressive strength of cylinders, cores, and cubes, and the flexural strength of beams. These durable frames have total capacities up to 250,000lbf (1,112kN) and the two-stage, oil-immersed pump powers the hydraulic ram mounted in the top crosshead to apply downward compression force. The first high-volume low-pressure stage rapidly advances the piston, then the pump automatically switches at 135psi of pressure to the second stage. This stage of low-volume high-pressure flow maintains a continuous rate of loading during testing from 2,000—200,000lbf (8,896—889,600kN) per minute.
The 250 series models have 0.5 hp systems that run cooler, quieter and offer better load control than other brands. Precision-ground pistons with O-Ring sealing and Teflon® back-up rings rest in a polished steel cylinder. Ground and hardened spherically seated upper platens have nickel plating, scribed concentric circles. A Locking Stem holds the upper platen assembly securely in place, yet allows quick substitution of accessory components. The lower platen is 6.5x1.9in (165x48mm) diameter x thickness.
Latchable Steel Fragment Guard Doors, high-pressure hydraulic safety valves and piston pressure bleed holes offer added safety to prevent use beyond maximum capacity. Controllers are side-mounted but can be installed in a separate console. Contact us for customizations. These machines are supplied ready to test 6x12 concrete cylinders up to 7,000 psi with sulfur caps or unbonded pads, but can be fitted with optional attachment sets for testing cubes, flexural beams and other cylinder sizes.
