Gilson’s Automatic Controller Retrofit allows Gilson and other manufacturers’ manual compression machines to be upgraded to a fully-automatic operating system. The Automatic Controller is programmed to follow specification requirements for specimen contact, pre-loading, rate of load, break detection, and data acquisition for concrete cylinders, beams, cubes, cores, and other sample types. Variations in load rates and applications are eliminated, ensuring accurate, repeatable, and documented results that strictly conform to ASTM and AASHTO test methods. Each controller Retrofit is shipped prewired and preassembled, making it easy to install and integrate with your current manual compression machine.
To install, remove the existing hydraulics and display interface, attach the Automatic Controller Retrofit, and connect the new hydraulic hose and limit switch. The setup is now complete and ready for on-site calibration.
The existing concrete frame capacity and piston diameter of the manual machine are required at the time of order to properly size the pressure transducer and perform initial factory calibration.
Dual-frame Compression Machines can also be upgraded to an automatically controlled system by including an A/B switch with the Retrofit. Other systems requiring capabilities to perform ASTM C469 modulus of elasticity (MOE), or MOE and Poisson’s ratio testing on 4 or 6in (101 or 152mm) cylinders, will include either one or two LVDT inputs. Factory modifications are also available.
AC-201 models easily upgrade manual compression machines to be fully automatic.
AC-205 models upgrades manual dual-frame compression machines with an included A/B switch.
AC-207 models are equipped with the ability to perform MOE and Poisson’s ratio testing. Extensometer testing fixtures for MOE and Poisson’s ratio testing can be purchased separately.
AC-209 models include an A/B switch to upgrade dual-frame compression machines to perform MOE and Poisson's ratio testing. Extensometer testing fixtures for MOE and Poisson’s ratio testing can be purchased separately.
Models operate on either 110V, 60Hz or 220V, 50/60Hz, depending on the chosen model.
