Profometer® Rebar Diameter and Cover Meters

PM8000 Profometer Rebar Diameter and Cover Meters are used to locate rebars, measure the concrete cover of rebars, and estimate rebar diameters in concrete structures. The sensor can detect individual rebars and determine concrete cover at depths up to 7.3in (185mm), with cover accuracy of ±0.16in (4mm) or better. Bar diameters can be measured at depths up to 2.5in (63mm) with an accuracy of ± rebar diameter. The maximum size for an area scan is 107,000ft² (10,000m²), and linear scans can be performed for lengths up to 0.6mi (1km).

The sensor connects via Bluetooth® to the user’s Apple® iPad® (iPadOS 13 or later required). Visualizations, graphics, and report data can instantly be uploaded to the cloud and shared from any location with a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

The Profometer app makes it possible to see into concrete structures and visualize rebars with accurate cover and diameter values, dowels, live wires, or any metallic object. View results in advanced statistics mode, area scan heat maps, augmented reality (AR) visualizations, and more. Cover depth and bar diameter affect detection, measurement limits, and accuracy. Visualizations and maps for cover depth, bar diameters, and locations are rendered with millimeter accuracy. In advanced iPad models, AI capability corrects and filters data to enhance image resolution in areas of congested reinforcing steel.

The lightweight sensor is designed for smooth, continuous rolling for area or linear scans while mounted in the wheeled cart. The sensor detaches quickly, allowing handheld use for spot reading to detect bar location and orientation while showing results on its built-in independent OLED display.

Advanced Visualization Tools in the Profometer App

A software license is required to use the functionality of the Profometer app, which automatically and safely stores all measurements. Profometer Pro comes with the premium software license, which includes all measurement modes, auto and manual rebar spacing, 1st and 2nd layer neighboring rebar correction, line scan views, and area scan views such as concrete cover and rebar diameter view, heat map, and AR heat map.

Profometer Basic comes with the basic license, which only includes spot data import measurement mode, manual rebar spacing, 1st layer neighboring rebar correction, and does not include line or area scan views or AR capabilities. Both Premium and Basic licenses include logbook, data sharing, data exporting, and data synchronization features, and are based on periodic subscription models. The first five-year subscription of a Premium or Basic license is included with the purchase.

Included accessories with the Profometer models are the Sensor with detachable, rechargeable AA batteries with the included charger, a carrying case and strap, and marking chalk. Power is provided by two included rechargeable, flight-safe, NiMH AA removable batteries, providing an estimated eight hours of operation.

The unit also operates on conventional alkaline AA batteries or a user-supplied USB-C power bank. Apple iPad models are supplied by the user.

CT-171 Profometer Basic includes a 5-year basic software license and is capable of cover and diameter spot measurement, line scan, neighboring rebar correction, advanced statistics, access to the online Workspace, and CSV and URL data exporting.

CT-172 Profometer Pro includes a 5-year premium software license and has all the capabilities of the Basic model plus additional features, such as area scan, heatmaps, augmented reality heatmaps, DBV statistics, and the ability to export data in DXF.

NOTE: After the five-year initial subscription period, Profometer Basic or Premium Software License must be renewed in order to use the functionality of the Profometer app.
