The Methylene Blue Value (MBV) of fine aggregate is a measure of the amount of potentially harmful fine material present such as clay and organic material. The MBV is simply a measure of the amount of reagent absorbed and is proportional to the amount of clay or organic material present.
Methylene Blue Powder Reagent 25g mixes with distilled water to create a Methylene Blue solution for testing to determine the presence of the potentially harmful materials in fine aggregate. The 25g powder reagent makes enough solution for over 500 tests. The HMA-78 powder reagent is light-sensitive and should be stored in a dark cabinet in foil-wrapped amber bottles. Also available within the HM-58R Methylene Blue Value Set.
