The Methylene Blue Value (MBV) of fine aggregate is a measure of the amount of potentially harmful fine material present such as clay and organic material. The MBV is simply a measure of the amount of reagent absorbed, and is proportional to the amount of clay or organic material present.
HMA-78 Methylene Blue Powder Reagent 25g mixes with distilled water to create Methylene Blue solution for testing to determine presence of the potentially harmful materials in fine aggregate. The 25g powder reagent makes enough solution for over 500 tests. The HMA-78 powder reagent is light-sensitive and should be stored in a dark cabinet in foil-wrapped amber bottles. Also available within the HM-58R Methylene Blue Value Set.
