Sieve Calibration Beads

SRMs are used on sieves in the same manner that tests would be performed, and a percentage of retained material is calculated for each sieve. Effective openings are determined from calibration data on the supplied NIST Certificate. SRMs only determine average opening sizes and do not take the place of Verification Services, but are an economical way to monitor performance while allowing sieves to remain in service.

  • NIST Glass Beads are calibrated and used in determining effective sieve openings, as well as in calibrating electroformed sieves. They are available in five different sizes, each designed for a specific sieve range and particle size.
  • NIST Sand is used for sand sieve analysis and available models correspond with sieves from fine to coarse with a sieve range of No. 30 to No. 325 and a particle size range of 600 to 45µm.
  • NIST Portland Cement Standard Reference Materials includes No. 46h, 1881b, 1884b, and 1885b standard reference materials used to validate and calibrate various cement tests and testing apparatus.
