Gilson CONTEMP Concrete Maturity System provides a simple, reliable, and user-friendly way to track concrete temperature and maturity on-site.
The recorder requires minimal on-site management, using LTE-M and 2G GSM cellular technology for dependable communication, geolocation, continuous monitoring and recording of readings, and live data transmission to a subscription-free app. If cellular connectivity is unavailable, the recorder can also connect to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. The unit has a built-in memory capacity of 64,000 readings and allows users to set 1–30min recording intervals. The data is stored in the cloud and used to determine the maturity index by applying the uploaded calibration curves developed for each concrete mix. This links the in-place concrete to its actual compressive strength.
The recorder has a standard operational temperature range of -4–160°F (-20–70°C), but using lithium batteries extends this range to -31–160°F (-35–70°C). The recorder operates on four replaceable or rechargeable AA batteries. As long as the components are maintained and the recorder's batteries are replaced or recharged as needed, this system is designed to have a long service life. The recorder’s internal ambient temperature sensor and ports for the two external temperature probes have a -67–257°F (-55–125°C) temperature measurement range, ±0.9°F (±0.5°C) accuracy, and 0.1° reporting resolution. For even more confidence, probes can be ordered with NIST traceable certification by adding the “C” model number suffix.
To monitor concrete maturity, two durable probes (one white and one black) are connected to the rugged IP67-rated recorder and embedded in the concrete during placement. The probes have no difference in operation, but are supplied in two colors to easily and quickly differentiate between them on busy, hectic job sites. At the end of the monitoring period, the probes are detached and abandoned in place. CONTEMP Probes for subsequent projects can be purchased individually or as part of CONTEMP Accessory Pack.
The app allows syncing intervals ranging from 10min to 7 days. Alarms can notify users and other project stakeholders at key points in the process or if any of the components need attention. To adapt to changing testing needs or save battery life, users can adjust the syncing and recording intervals throughout the monitoring process.
When data from the recorder and probes is synced in the app, real-time graphs of maturity and strength are generated. Data from multiple probes can be combined and compared to better understand and monitor conditions across entire pours and projects. This data can then be exported for detailed graphs, tables, and reports, as well as supporting documentation for quality control. All synced data is stored in the cloud, allowing for an unlimited amount of data to be collected and saved.
Everything you need to get started monitoring the concrete maturity on your project is included. All components of the system can also be purchased separately as needed. CONTEMP Probe Extensions are also available, providing greater flexibility in probe placement and allowing hard-to-access spots or larger-scale projects to be monitored. When using extensions, each probe on a recorder must be extended by the same amount.
CT-80C includes all of the same components but also comes with a NIST traceable certificate.
