The 18 aggregate professionals from Ohio participated in the Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) Ohio Level II Aggregate Technician Training on December 12 and 13, 2018. This was the third certification training program held at Gilson this year. Participants represented several construction companies from throughout the state, as well as ODOT District 1.
On the morning of the first day, attendees participated in classroom training, and then took a written examination in the afternoon. On day two, participants individually performed various procedures through hands-on activities held in Gilson’s Application Center. The attendees rotated through different stations which included Crush Count, #200 Wash, Sieve Analysis of Coarse Aggregates, Sieve Analysis of Fine Aggregates and Relative Density/Unit Weight.
The aggregate training, testing and certification program is the same required by the Ohio Department of Transportation for its technicians. The OAIMA is a trade association that represents all the mining operations, except coal, in Ohio.
