 OAIMA classroom

Ten aggregate professionals from Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania participated in the Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association Ohio Level II Aggregate Technician Training on September 12 and 13, 2018. These training programs are routinely held at the Gilson Company two or three times a year.

The program included classroom training in the morning and a written examination in the afternoon on the first day. On day two, participants demonstrated their knowledge of certain procedures through hands-on activities held in Gilson’s Application Center. The attendees rotated throughout various aggregates-related stations which included Crush Count, #200 Wash, Sieve Analysis of Coarse Aggregates, Sieve Analysis of Fine Aggregates and Relative Density/Unit Weight.

This training, testing and certification program is the same as required by the Ohio Department of Transportation for its technicians. OAIMA is Ohio’s trade association that represents all the mining operations, with the exception of coal, in the state.
