Gilson offers three types of vacuum pycnometers to determine maximum specific gravity. All three feature a transparent cover for observation of bubble release during testing. Standard components include vacuum hose, quick-disconnect, and a 3/8" (9.5mm) threaded aspirator vacuum source.SG-16A 2000g Pycnometer meets both ASTM D 2041 and AASHTO T209. Aluminum volumetric canister is 7.5" diam. x 6" D (191x152mm) and tests a max. 2000g (4.4 lb) sample, sufficient for mixes with up to 3/4" (19.1mm) aggregates. A transparent vacuum lid and a second tapered aluminum lid with capillary bore are included, to allow canister to be used as volumeter for determining specific gravity of compacted bituminous mixtures. SG-17 1500g Pycnometer (3.3 lb) sample is 4" (102mm) deep, sufficient for mixes with up to 1/2" (13mm) aggregates. SG-15 Type F Pycnometer meets AASHTO T209 Type F requirements, but due to recent changes no longer meets ASTM D 2041. With 10 liters capacity, the 10.75" diam. x 13.25"D (273x337mm) pycnometer tests a 6000g (13.2lb) sample and is suited to mixes with up to 2" (51mm) aggregate size. This lightweight vessel is constructed of high-strength plastic. Water inlet valve, 4 metal clamps, and O-ring seal prevent leakage. SG-15C includes individual factory calibration. Some state's specifications require optional SGA-102 perforated plastic shelf that fits 6000g models to support three specimens of 4"(102mm) diameter. Pycnometer Shipping Data: 10-15 lb (4.5-6.8kg); Cu. Ft.: 1-1.4.
