Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV's) use heated, pressurized air to simulate long-term oxidative aging of asphalt binders. PAV ovens consist of an ASMECode stainless steel pressure vessel, in a stainless steel cabinet with encased band heaters. Gilson offers two fully integrated PAV ovens to meet the demands of busy labs with high test volumes.

Both state of the art systems meet all ASTM and AASHTO requirements and include platinum RTD devices to insure accurate temperature values to ±0.1°C. Pressure relief valves and high-temperature thermal shut down controls are included as standard safety features.

HM-73A Prentex Pressure Aging Vessel is supplied with a remote-mounting controller that automates the entire test procedure from initialization through to shut-down. The stainless steel cabinet measures 24x16x17.5in (610x406x444mm) WxDxH. The Prentex PAV includes a set of ten TFOT specimen pans and a ten-pan holder. Order additional MOA-2 TFOT pans and HMA-127 Extra Pan holder as necessary. Maximum power consumption is 650 watts. Bottled compressed air with at least 325psi (2.24 MPa) pressure and a regulator must be user provided.

Optional HMA-126 PAV Calibration Set for HM-73A includes an ASTM 94C thermometer with three-point calibration, and pressure calibration gauge with ±0.5% accuracy and certificate of calibration at 305psi. Older HM-73 (Prentex 9300) PAV's can be upgraded to HM-73A by adding HMA-138 System Controller Accessory.

HM-74 ATS Pressure Aging Vessel uses a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) for complete control and monitoring of all test processes. This easy to use system completes a test in three easy steps; press the heat button, insert specimens when prompted, and press the age button. The stainless steel cabinet measures 30x20x24in (760x508x610mm) WxDxH. The ATS PAV includes a set of ten TFOT specimen pans, a sample holder with lifting handle, and a specimen handling tool. Additional MOA-2 TFOT pans can be ordered as necessary. Bottled compressed air with a pressure of at least 325 psi (2.24 MPa) and a regulator must be user provided.
