The Slab-Pac prepares single or double layer specimens of hot-mix Asphalt to predetermined thickness and density up to 3.94" (100mm). Slabs are suited for rut testing in wheel tracking machines. Slabs can also be sawed or cored. A hydraulically-loaded roller transmits compacting force across a series of vertically moveable steel compacting plates as the mold moves on a sliding table.Four standard Mold Sets are available. The compactor easily adapts to special mold sizes. Molds can produce maximum specimen size of 19.7x10.2x3.9" (500x260x100mm), LxWxH.
HMA-352 Standard Mold is sized for coring two 5.9" (150mm) diameter cylinders or sawing beams up to 15" (381mm) in length for testing with the Superpave Simple Shear Tester (SST) by AASHTO T320.
HMA-357 Mold is for "Hamburg" type Wheel Testing. Specimens can be made at 3", 2-1/2", 2", or 1-1/2" (76, 63.5, 50.8 or 38.1mm). Similar HM-358 has 7" (178mm) internal height to permit compacting up to 3.94" (100mm) thickness in two lifts.
HMA-359 Mold Set meets French wheel tracking standard #NFP98-263. Maximum specimen thickness with this set is 3.94" (100mm). Inquire for special mold requirements.
Compacting Speeds of 4.2 and 8.4 in./sec. (107 and 213mm/sec.) and stroke length up to 19.7" (500mm). Effective compacting range of the machine is 3.5" (89mm) without changing plate sets. A dedicated 208-240V, 30 amp, 50 or 60Hz single phase circuit is required for operation. Overall machine dimensions are 82.5x36.0x42.0" (2096x914x1067mm).
