This quality gravity convection oven meets requirements for conducting both the Thin-Film Oven Test (TFOT), and Loss-on-Heating tests of bitumens and asphaltic materials. Specimens conditioned in the oven are analyzed for changes in mass or other properties, such as viscosity, ductility and penetration resistance.
The microprocessor digital controller is factory set to hold temperature at prescribed 163°±1°C, with overheat protection set at 5°C above set point. Temperature set point may be changed up to total range of oven at 180°C, (356°F). Internal dimensions of the stainless steel chamber are 20.5x18.1x15in (520x460x380mm), WxDxH.
Two rotating platforms are supplied; one accepts two 140mm diameter cylindrical pans for the thin-film test, and the other holds nine standard penetration cups for the loss on heating test. Both are rotated at 5-6rpm by an external motor. Specimen pans and cups are purchased separately.
Powder-coated steel exterior is constructed with a large, side-hinged door with double-pane viewing window.
